A treasure is something personal to someone which can only really be appreciated by the owner and is passed on to others. Lemon Brown says in The Treasure of Lemon Brown, “Every man got a treasure. You don’t know that, you must be a fool” (pg. 9). However, some people don’t understand this idea. Many people assume that treasure is literally wealth or other frivolous cares, while several others feel that is an experience or something precious which they are overjoyed to pass on to generations beyond them in order to positively affect descendants’ lives. I agree with Lemon Brown that a treasure is something personal where only the one who owns it can know its importance and pass it on to others. First of all, treasure means something special to those who posses it, and often would be meaningless to other people. Lemon Brown gave his harmonica to his son, who left to fight in a war, because he wanted his son to be appreciative of his father and inspired by his career. After Lemon Brown discovered, heartbroken, that his son had been killed, his belongings were sent back as what his son had been taking care of the whole time he was at war.
