Analytical Essay: Audrey Hepburn's Path To Success

Mentioning the phrase “one of the greatest actresses of all time” will surely bring up Audrey Hepburn. The name also brings forth the thought of success and that is exactly what she was. Success is not born; it is not something that is passed down from one generation to the next. Success is made from perseverance and the passion to accomplish a goal. Audrey Hepburn’s life was a rollercoaster of ups and downs and during the drops she was persistent and was able to climb to success. Pixar states in one of their movies “Not everyone can become a great artist but a great artist can come from anywhere”. This quote applies well in Audrey’s situation. At 10 years old, rather than enjoying life the way a child at that age should, Audrey Hepburn’s main priority was surviving. She traveled to many starving towns in Africa, helping UNICEF aid people in need. Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey’s first son and author of Audrey Hepburn, an Elegant Spirit, recalls Audrey coming home absolutely infuriated with society. She wanted everyone to feel the same need to help that she did. Audrey Hepburn often spoke at events of her volunteering with UNICEF. In one her speeches, she stated “Your one percent is an example of one hundred percent but all together a beautiful example to us of love and caring. Together, there is nothing we cannot do.” Audrey’s heart was very big and having to see the conditions people were living in everyday and nothing being done filled her with an overwhelming sadness that dominated her life. She felt what she was doing was not enough, as one sometimes feels when encountering something heartbreaking; but her commitment was enough.
