I’m a third year student at the University of Toronto studying Statistic and Actuarial Science. My actuarial courses and SOA exam experience provided me with a broad knowledge of math and statistic. To my understanding, insurance is not only a protection for our families, but also a strategy to invest our money properly and rationally, and I’m obsessed with how math and models are applied to real world situations, especially for Property and Casualty industry. I learned how to communicate effectively with my team members, and how to explain intricate things to students in a simple but professional way in order to maintain our company’s high reputation. With a 2-year experience “play around” with my team and students, I clearly understood the major differences between talking to my team and to my “clients”. I believe my ability to work effectively as part of a team, and communicate pertinently base on clients’ needs would serve as solid bases when I work at XXX.
I see myself as a self-motivated intern, a quick learner, with good performance to work both individually or in a team, and communicate effectively at all levels. Discussions with experienced actuaries and my own research have confirmed my belief that SOA is the best able to accomplish my ambitions. I believe my enthusiasm and my interest of the insurance industry will be my biggest motivations to continue my career as an actuary no matter how hard to get to the destination.
