Why is gaming considered as a sport?

Gaming is a worldwide phenomenon now that keeps getting bigger and bigger every day on multiple consoles or computers. But now everyone is thinking is it going to be considered a sport. Well in some parts of the country and outside our country it is already considered one. Sports are a physical activity that is engaged in for pleasure (“Sport.” Merriam-Webster.com.) Its other definition is a particular activity (such as an athletic game) so engaged in (“Sport.” Merriam-Webster.com.) To others it is just standing still and golfing patiently. But gaming is a special one because you are either sitting in a chair using a controller or using a keyboard. Gaming’s definition is a physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other (“Gaming.” Merriam-Webster.com.) If you look at a gamers reaction time compared to other sports the gamer will have one of the highest because while playing the game and learning it your reaction time increases and your wpm increases if using a mouse/keyboard. Tilting can be defined as angry or frustrated to the degree that it's badly affecting your performance, and you're probably blaming it on everyone but yourself (Kollar 2016). Tilting can be as severe as a losing streak for an NFL team, an NHL team, or an NBA team. Esports pro teams have hired psychologists to help with players getting tilted in between games. One of the most iconic moments for a psychologist in esports was getting a team with semi-finals tilt to win their first championship ("Drackie" 2017).
