College athletes deserve a paycheck because the required time commitment prohibits an outside job, athletes start off poor and in college, and schools benefit from how much money these athletes bring in each year. There are some people out there with the athletic ability to go to school and play sports. Some are good enough to earn numerous amounts of free scholarships to go to college and are able to choose what school they will attend for the next four year. But during that time people do not know the struggles the athlete goes through while trying to balance playing sports and keeping up in school. Paying them compensation for their athletic ability makes sense.
