College athletes should be paid because of the large amounts of revenue that they produce for their school (Futterman; Sack; Thomson; Coterell). The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is one of the most anticipated and viewed events of the year. Recently, the NCAA extended its media rights deal with CBS and Turner Sports through 2024 for a record $10.6 billion (Futterman 1). That’s an average of $720 million a year (Futterman 1). Despite being the primary reason for this television deal and large profit, the college athletes receive nothing. In addition, an economist, Robert Brown concluded that, “Over a 4-year college career a premium college basketball player could… generate from as much as three million to over four million dollars
