8 Neighbors, Do they still need each other? Non-profits are often overlooked when economic struggles come along, much of the time these organizations have to cut their programs or in the worst times, shut down. Partnerships like the 8 Neighbors are often born out of necessity of the economy or political climate(Katherine, Drew Rios, 2013). This partnership was born out of the economic crisis of the great recession. This was the time between 2007 and 2009 when there was a large amount of unemployment, lack of consumer spending, and business investment(“The Great Recession | State of Working America,” n.d.). These considerations should be made by those within the partnership and is something they will have to address when the time …show more content…

This is often a point of contention due to the lack of resources and the need of many communities. The leaders working together need to try and set aside their passions when learning they didn’t get funding for x or y and another nonprofit did. This is difficult to do and human nature to protect your people and company are hard to overcome. Also though, those who have the same passions for the same populations may be able to work together and create a better life for those within their clients. These partnerships can allow for amazing growth within both nonprofits and open more doors when it comes to funding. There are hurdles to overcome but those hurdles can allow for partnerships to grow and flourish because you figure them out
