Jesus and his disciples are on their way to Jerusalem for the Passover feast. In
Jerusalem was crowded with many people who had come for the annual Passover celebration in a springtime Sunday. Jesus had spent for traveling through the towns and villages of Palestine. He preached about the kingdom of God and healed the sick. Now the time had come for Him to claim as the Messiah. Jesus knew His mission was almost finished and He warned his disciples that He would be put to death and after three days He would rise again. Jerusalem for Passover. According to Zechariah, king who came to Jerusalem with humble and riding on a colt. For the rest of the Zechariah passage details about the king, he will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war-horse from Jerusalem. He will be a king of peace, be humble by riding on a donkey no more chariots. This is contrast between the Kingdom of
God and kingdom of Caesar. Pilate’s procession embodied the power, glory and violence of the empire the ruled the world but Jesus come with peace and humble. He comes as the righteous one who offers salvation, not as a conquering military leader. He comes with reconciliation. The crucifixion of Jesus was not an accident. This is no coincidence rather He understood and embraced his calling to undergo his execution.
