Stanford Marshmallow Experiment Analysis

The experiments done at Stanford by the professor named Walter Mischel are better known as, “The Stanford Marshmallow Experiment.” These experiments done helped to explain why having the ability to delay gratification was critical for success in life. The delay of gratification is the ability to have patience and realize that if you wait and do one thing now instead of the easier option it will be better for you in the long run. Having this ability can be very beneficial to a person; this can make them a more efficient worker or student. Not only this but it can help a person to have better social skills and have the ability to communicate and work with others better.

Within the experiments done at Stanford by Mischel and his team, they required a specific type of subject for the tests they were hoping to run. All of the subjects that participated were kids that were around the ages of four and five years old. With this age demographic they would have the opportunity to do further testing, as the kids got older and see how their pervious data compared to their new data. Children …show more content…
If we do choose to use it then we can become more efficient at working, have better social skills, and have the ability to respond to stress better. These experiments done at Stanford by Mischel have helped to explain this topic in detail. They have also brought this incredible ability to the light of the public due all the articles and news stories written about these experiments. With this maybe it will be possible for more people such as myself to use this information and change for the better. In my own life I will use what I have learned from this experiment to help me to procrastinate less and hopefully get better grades. If I do homework earlier and delay the gratification of relaxing then I will have more time to study and get better
