After losing his father at a young age he was raised by his grandmother in Little Rock, Arkansas listening to spiritual music. At a young age William studied violin, cello and oboe, on which he became a solo performer. Even though he entered college and try to have a different career, his love for music was so strong that he left school to pursue his love for music. He was one of the first African American to compose a major symphonic work the Afro American symphony. The first African American person to direct a major Symphony Orchestra the Los Angeles symphonic in 1936, the first to have an opera performed by a major opera company, and the first to have an opera performed on national television. One of his greatest creation was the Danzas de panama. The Danzas de panama was departed from traditional practices by making an attempt to approximate the sounds of native instruments. There is a touch of Caribbean color in the four symphonies. The first and last are African in origin, probably brought by the first slaves imported into Panama, while the second and third are of Spanish-Indian derivation. The one I choose is the first one, Tamborito: it is performed with strings instruments and percussion. Also one person tap their foot or their hands to have some kind of rhythm going on. Franz Joseph Haydn was recruited at age 7 to the sing in the choir at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, where he went on to learn to play violin and keyboard. After he left the choir, he supported himself by teaching and playing violin, while studying counterpoint and harmony. He played an important role in the development of the Classical style music during the 18th century. One of his greatest creation was The Symphony No. 103 in E-flat major. It is the eleventh of the twelve London Symphonies written by Joseph Haydn. This symphony is nicknamed The Drumroll, after the long roll on the timpani with which it begins. The work is in standard four movement form. The theme is ambiguous between duple and triple time, and between the keys of C minor and E flat major. Strings, woodwinds brass and percussion are the instruments used to perform this symphony. It soundde very peaceful at times but then it changes to a fast and loud rhythm.
