Analysis: The Ocean Of The Streams Of Story

Decent Essays
The Ocean of the Streams of Story proposes water and stories are alike. It describes stories and water as something similar, something related to one another. As if they have a similar meaning; a connection. Water is something that you can't hold, but you can feel and see, something that you need to stay healthy, which I feel in this book is true for stories. Rashid lived telling stories, that was his life, and his reason for being happy, but when he lost that he became miserable and started believing the idea that there is no point in his stories. When rashid lost stories, rashid lost himself. Telling and having stories come to his mind was his life and when it was gone, he was to. Water is our way of survival just like stories was rashid's.

The authors prefer the figure-of-eight reconstruction technique preferably utilizing hamstring autograft. The semitendinosus is a stouter graft choice, though a clinical advantage over gracilis autograft remains to be seen. The authors begin with an 8-10 cm curvilinear incision overlying the SCJ. Once through the skin and subcutaneous tissue, a confluent fascial layer is encountered, and the origin of the pectoralis major and insertion of the sternocleidomastoid are incised and elevated sharply.…

Absent from ‘The World of Pond Stories’ by Dr. Stewart Bitkoff are politically-polarizing statements that these days pass for mainstream discussion and describe the plethora media sound bytes that seemingly inundate my day to day life. In other words, reading these stories was a refreshing reprieve from the endless cycle of jingoistic and sensationalistic rhetoric. To further elaborate, I found at the heart of each story an open-ended reflection oftentimes, at least in my initial reading, an opportunity to reflect on human nature namely our relationship with ourselves, the world around us inclusive of all its denizens human and non. One thing which Dr.Bitkoff does and has done well over the course of his many books is to present the reader…

He vividly explains his story in details to create a picture for his audience. He started his story off with “MY FATHER DRANK” instantly letting his readers know what his story is about. This paints a picture for the audience right away which draws them in immediately making them more interested. Throughout his story he uses many different types of metaphors and similes to show how heavy his father drank. In the beginning of his story, he wrote, “He drank as a gut-punched boxer gasps for breath, as a starving dog gobbles for food-compulsively, secretly in pain and trembling” (87).…

What do women want in a marriage? Is it love and happiness or is it unfaithfulness and torture? Most women desire love and happiness, but not all receive what they wish. Some women have it all from a great husband with a great job who treats them like a queen and they take it for granted. Other women have a horrible life whose husbands do not do anything for them, cheat on them, and treat them no better than dirt on the ground when all they wanted was to be loved.…

I found chapter 6 to be a great review on story structure. Of the many lessons learned I believe the structure of a story had always been the most stressed while growing up. I remember doing multiple exercises having to break apart stories and identify the introduction, rising action, climax, etc. I found the pattern of connection and disconnection part of the reading new to me but very easy to understand. When beginning stories I do always make sure to include a conflict but with this new idea I was to play with the connection and disconnection idea.…

The Bridge did not avoid the classical linear narrative where strong causality linked the past with the present and future. The Bridge’s narrative was developed through a four-line structure (A: B: C: D). Each letter corresponded to a storyline. Each one of these lines function in parallel, but they did not necessarily have the same salience for the narrative or the same duration in each episode. For example, A was the most significant, B less, and so on.…

Rushdie says “Unlike a library of books, The Ocean of the Streams of Stories was much more than a storeroom of yarns, it was not dead but alive”(72).
