Analysis: The Execution By Markiplier

Decent Essays
After reading the first paragraph, I thought to myself, “I know that story!” However, I had no recollection of where I read it from. Stupidly, I checked the other books for this class before realizing it’s in the same book as “The Execution”. In any case, when thinking about the tailor and the shoemaker as well as the idea that one person could be introvert and extravert, it didn’t occur to me until I encountered an authentic example. A Youtuber named Markiplier claims to overall have an introvert personality because he enjoys his time by himself, yet he acts outgoing with people. Coupled with the example provided explaining how introvert thoughts can inhibit the extravert drive in a person assisted with my understanding of this idea.

“We are so caught up in the myths of the best and brightest and the self made that we think outliers spring naturally from the earth” (Gladwell 268). People believe that outliers come from nowhere, as if they have risen up from the earth. However, people also believe that dedication and talent create outliers. The truth is that what one is born into is what defines an individual. One’s social background forms the type of person you are and is what can define an outlier, one who stands apart from others according to advantages that he has no control over.…

She reduces the likelihood of being caught in her mutinous acts by assuming a double life. Her clothes, attitudes, and actions all differ depending on where she is and who she is with.…

The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore juxtaposes the lives of two men who grew up in similar environments but ended up taking diverging paths. The author Wes Moore perseveres through the hardships he faced and ends up a Rhodes Scholar, whereas the other Wes Moore is dealt a life sentence. The author poses the question, “Do you think we are all just products of our environments?” Due to their ostensibly similar upbringings, one may suggest that the antithetical outcomes of the two Wes Moores were caused by the individual choices made by them, but upon closer look it is evident that specific subsets of their environment impacted each of them for better or for worse.…

As many know, an orientation is a long, extenuating process that is used in order to provide vital information, whether it pertain to a job or even school. The information is drilled into each individual’s brain by repetition of words and even by words typed on a piece of paper. In Daniel Orozco’s “Orientation,” the reader can see that this isn’t just any normal orientation being given, it was more like an in-depth view into each employee’s life whether it pertained to the office or their personal life. With this particular short story, there is proof that this is a stereotypical view on an orientation, but with his use of repetition, humorous words, and lack of dialogue between characters, he truly captures the essence of what orientation…

In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley talks about a monster, who transforms from an innocent individual to an evil person at the end. The entire story revolves around the monster and his creator, who abandons the monster at the time of monster’s creation. Furthermore, the society rejects the monster and this rejection changes the harmless being to a harmful creature. Thus, Shelly comments on the idea of human nature being learned and not innate through her tale of the monster. I strongly believe Mary Shelley’s portrayal of the monster in the story depicts human transformation based on their experience in the society.…
