“And this shows that intuition can sometimes get things wrong. And intuition is what people use in life to make decisions. But logic can help you work out the right answer” (Haddon, 65). This quote is from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which revolves around Christopher, who tries to apply logic to tackle the many problems of life. He always pauses to think about what is going on around him and he remembers most things he sees. On the other hand, his metacognitive abilities may prove detrimental to his social life. For example, he presents a lack of emotion, and can’t understand the more complex feelings associated with life. Using my logic, I narrowed it down to only the specialized high schools, yet using my intuition, I thought that either Stuy or Elro is better. I decided to use the overlap- Stuyvesant. On the other hand, my logical side wanted me to go to Bronx Sci, because of the fact that it would be an easier, yet specialized high school. I went to Stuy, because my human intuition said that even-though there will be a high risk, there would be a high reward if I were to do well there. If I were only to use my intuitive side, I would have probably chosen ELRO, because it would be easy to get good grades there. On the other hand, if I were only to be logical, I would see that Bronx Science would be better, because of it being an easier, yet specialized high school. If Christopher was in my shoes, he would probably go for either Stuyvesant, or Bronx Science, because he would try to get into a STEM-based school. After all, his love of Mathematics is unquestionable. If he were to choose Bronx Science, he would probably regret it, because Stuyvesant has a better reputation, and equal work. If a purely intuitive person were to choose, they would probably go for either ELRO, because of the more relaxed environment, or come into Stuyvesant

In David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell is correct when he claims that It is better to be a “big fish in a small pond,” so attending California State University Sacramento as oppose to UC Berkeley is a better fit for me. When it comes to picking a school, nobody explains it better than Malcolm Gladwell with his “Relative Deprivation Theory”.
