Analysis: Should Students Have To Wear School Uniforms

Administrators, educators, parents and public- minded citizens alike, are all aware that some of our public school systems are in a discouraged state. Disruptive behavior, Poor attendance, Violence and dispiriting attitudes stand in the way of today's education. Our children need the self-esteem, purpose, hope and security associated with growing up in a healthy learning environment. Implementation of a school uniform program can help meet these needs. The article “Should Students Have to Wear School Uniforms”, supports this statement well with the elaboration, “If it means that the schoolrooms will be more orderly, more disciplined, and that our young people will learn to evaluate themselves by what they are on the inside instead of what they're wearing on the outside, then our public schools should be able to require their students to wear school uniforms."

School Uniforms help school administrators provide security for the students. School uniforms have got rid of distractions and have allowed students to focus on their work. According to the article,” President Clinton Supports School Uniforms”, "Principals and teachers tell us that students' success is taking many forms -- fewer absences, fewer [tardiness], fewer truancy issues, and fewer referrals.” In general, School uniforms help distinct students from other people, strangers, and threats.
The most common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self- expression. While it is true that school uniforms limit what the students have to wear, scholars still have ways to show self-expression. Students can still express their style of choice by the way they style their hair and what accessories they choose to wear. Their shoe choice can also be a form of self-expression. Students can make the uniforms their own style without breaking the dress
