Season with Rhetoric Rhetoric is like the seasoning for food. It adds that extra flavor to each and every print and commercial advertisement through a variety of devices. The different types of rhetoric appeals are ethos, pathos, and logos. Without them, advertisements would be boring, straightforward, and bland. The medium also plays a huge part in the way the message will be perceived. These entities combined are like the bare ingredients for an advertisement. This will be observed through the infomercials of the Swiffer Brand. Although there are two forms of advertisements, which is more effective? The Swiffer Brand was founded in 1999 and was created to modernize old school cleaning methods. They persuade consumers by exercising funny, but relatable scenarios in their commercials, and by using logical slogans in their bulletins. However, their commercials appear more lighthearted as their bulletins seem more serious. Unlike print advertisements they don’t leave any room for misinterpretation, and neither do you have to play detective to figure things out. Print Advertisements aren’t as memorable and they can’t really develop personal connections as well as commercials do. One reason for this is because television commercials use a multisensory approach to sell their products. The multisensory teaching technique helps one learn by exercising various senses simultaneously. Multimedia advertisements occupy sight and sound while exhibiting motion. It is proven that the relationship of data with numerous senses helps with learning and recollection.
