Riding With Staph “Let ‘er buck boys!” and the chute gate swung open and the beast blew outta there like Mr. Sweeney’s temper when he feels he is being ignored. He exploded into a series of spins and belly rolls. My thoughts were stuck on making the eight second ride, as if it were the only thing that mattered in the world. In great disappointment, I felt a quick pop and recognized that my hand has blown outta the handle on my rope. One, two, almost three more jumps I ride without anything to hold me on, except for the power in my legs and my knowledge of good positioning. With a hasty move to the right from the bull none of that mattered because abruptly I was underneath the bull. With the name Bill Nye the Science Guy, this bull was bound to do some unconventional things. He stepped on …show more content…
My doctor set my mom and I down and informed us that I had roughly a 97% chance of losing my leg due to the infection. As this set in, I realized that my ride with Staph infection had begun. Prepping for surgery, my doctors informed me that I was going to be in surgery for two hours the first day, and then the following day I would be in surgery for another eight hours as they were to perform a micro vesicular surgery. As I lay there heavily medicated, I realized that I was going to be in surgery for ten hours, which is the amount of years Mr. Sweeney has been alive times seven. Then, I slowly drifted off with the thought that my English teacher, is older than dirt. “I don’t know how druggies do this,” were the first words I muttered after waking up after amnesia. After the doctors and nurses stopped laughing at this, they informed me that my surgery went really well and that they think that they were able to save my leg. With three surgeries down, everything was looking up, until my monthly checkup where they noticed that my bones were not
