Organic VS Inorganic How can we distinguish between what is healthy and what is not healthy? What is good and what is bad? “A Healthy Constitution” by Alice Waters states that children will be healthier and better educated, not only by serving better school lunches, but also by educating them eating values to become responsible citizens. By educating the children, we are helping them distinguish between good foods and bad foods. With healthier school lunches, they are improving in school and staying out of trouble because they are having less sugar and more nutrients. Robert Paarlberg a political science professor at Wellesley College in his article “Attention Whole Foods Shoppers” argues that making food sustainable meaning, organic, local and slow is not the answer to world hunger. Paarlberg says that by consuming organic foods we are not helping the environment we are destroying it more. What or who should we believe? Although Paarlberg gives various reasonable arguments on how organic farming is worse for the world, Waters successfully makes a relation between healthy meals and learning how children …show more content…
It will take some time however, local farms such as Archis Acres, Stehly Organic farm, or Polyface farm will keep growing as long as people get educated about their food and do something about industrial farming. Each organic farm is not only benefiting the communities economy it is also helping save the earth by avoiding machinery use that release gasses such as I learned by reading the article “The Carnivore’s Dilemma” by Nicolette Niman. She states, “You can reduce your contribution to carbon dioxide emissions by avoiding industrially produced meat and dairy products” (Niman 170).
