In his writing “The Fall of The House of Usher” it was very easy to visualize the setting and all of its features such as sound, sight, color. He is able to set a mood for the story which helps the reader visualize this with events from his or her life. In the beginning of the story it starts out with “DURING THE WHOLE of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hang oppressively low in the heavens, through a singularly dreary tract of country; and at a length found myself, as shades of the evening drew on, within view of the melancholy house of Usher.” With this quote the reader gets a great sense of the setting, what it looks like and what it feels like and the mood is set for the story. …show more content…
