Family Migration Story Zuleyma Iturbide In Playas de Rosarito,Baja California Norte on September 8, 1982, Beatriz A. Gonzalez was born. She was born to . Her parents already had 4 children when she was born (Maria de Rosario, Aida Ventura, Jose Guadalupe, and Gladys). They lived in Santa Rosa after she was born, and had only gone back once, a year after she was born so that her mother could give birth to her youngest sister Carmen. Her father was a farmer, and her mother a housewife, they were both very catholic. She and her sibling always had to help in the fields. Her father planted a lot of fruits, and grains, and vegetables. They had roosters, hens, ducks, dogs, bunnies so one of her daily chores was to feed them. Their life was good there. They both had steady jobs, they were not great, but at least they had jobs. They made close friends with another family who soon became like their second family. They would often help out Beatriz and Rafael. When her daughter was two years old, Beatriz found out she was pregnant with a baby boy. However, she lost the baby due to complications. Before their daughter could turn three Beatriz decided that she wanted to move to the United States. She had her oldest sister and youngest sister living in North Carolina and figured that there would be better opportunities for her there. She was 22 at the time. With their work visas, she, her husband, and her daughter were able to cross the border into San Diego. From San Deigo, they were able to take a plane to North Carolina. Her sisters came to pick her up and ended up taking her to McDonalds for her first meal in the States. After only two months of living in North Carolina Beatriz wanted to go back to Mexico. She missed her hometown, and she was not doing that great in North
