Analysis Of Wisdom Ackoff

Decent Essays
This is the first reading I read too. As you said Ackoff sees the concept of data in a different way rather than others. It is like a journey for a person to understand from ‘Data’ to ‘Wisdom’. If a human being successfully analyzed the first four contents such as data, information, knowledge, and understanding, he/she can definitely withstand their wisdom in the future as well. Say, I have the wisdom in MS Access. I acquired this wisdom through experience and lots of research. Then I can use that wisdom while I would study SQL.

Don Quixote and “The Spoil of Antwerp” “The Spoil of Antwerp” (1575) by George Gascoigne (1535–1577) and Don Quixote (1605) by Miguel de Cervantes (1547–1616) are two pieces of literature from late the 16th century to early 17th century, respectively; that can that have several parallel elements that helped each of them achieve a different purpose for the time and place that they were published. Just like in all literature, the lives of the authors significantly impacted the writings as a whole. Gascoigne was from Bedfordshire, England. He was highly educated but his life consisted with more failure than success; he failed as a courtier, was imprisoned four months by the Spanish, was accused of being a spy and atheist, and therefore was forbidden from the Parliament, in which he had already served (Cummings 2). He is now considered the most important poet of the early Elizabethan era (Cheney 60).…

Summary The author describes the main subject of his book as "thin-slicing": our ability to use limited information from a very narrow period of experience to come to a conclusion. This idea suggests that spontaneous decisions are often as good as—or even better than—carefully planned and considered ones. To reinforce his ideas, Gladwell draws from a wide range of examples from science and medicine (including malpractice suits), sales and advertising, gambling, speed dating (and predicting divorce), tennis, military war games, and the movies and popular music. Gladwell also uses many examples of regular people's experiences with "thin-slicing," including our instinctive ability to mind-read, which is how we can get to know a person's emotions…

Even though Maddox and Picard offer substantial ideas to argue their point of views of Data’s sustainability in the human race, they both missed the mark. First of all, Maddox approach to treat non-humans as though they only existed to service the needs of human is not in line with the premise that man was place on the earth in a protective role; therefore, if (hypothetically) artificial intelligence were to appear, then disassembling would be decadent. Secondly, although with good intentions, Picard failed to recognize that humans have both physical and mental properties; thereby, Data’s framework does not include his desires, interests, and inclinations. With that being said, the advocate and the adversary failed to identify the true meaning…

Having not taken TAPS 103, I decided to read the books for the course, Impro and Improv Wisdom so I would be up to date for 104. Although I have done improv for six years, I had never read a book on improv, so this was a new experience for me to read about what I have only learned about in practice. Impro by Keith Johnstone and Improv Wisdome by Patricia Madson are two very different books that both offer key insights on not only the best practices of improv, but also the role of improv in our lives. Impro begins with Johnstone describing his own life and his personal journey to improv. Just from the beginnings of the first chapter, I could tell Johnstone thought about life and comedy in a very different way than most people do, but that way of thinking has led him to make astounding observations about both.…

Across culture and history, the governing body of a nation has occupied a position of dominance over the individual. However, the status quo of the nature and purpose of government is constantly evolving due to intellectual breakthroughs. Such intellectual breakthroughs are often pioneered by ingenious thinkers, namely philosophers. Friedrich Nietzsche and Ayn Rand are both radical philosophers whose visions run the risk of dismantling the normalcy of society, particularly components of the government. Nietzsche’s philosophical work, Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Rand’s text, The Virtue of Selfishness contain viable answers to the following question: what is the nature and purpose of government?…

The term data-driven instruction (DDI), also called data supported instruction, is a systematic approach that is used to improve student learning based on available data (Lewis, Madison-Harris, Muoneke, & Times, 2010). It is a cyclic and precise process that continually improves learner’s success. The cycle has three repetitive stages, namely, assessment, analysis, and action. The latter stages provide a school-wide support framework for improving students learning throughout the year by identifying gaps in their learning (Hamilton, Halverson, Jackson, Mandinach, Supovitz, Wayman, & Steele, 2009). Data or evidence is the most crucial component of this instruction approach.…

Contexts and Dialogue: Yogacara Buddhism and Modern Psychology on the Subliminal Mind by Tao Jiang dives into a comparative analysis between concepts related to Yogacara Buddhism and modern psychology. The book utilizes the Buddhist idea of Alayavijnana and the notion of unconscious as described by modern psychologists as the foundation for the dialogue within its pages. Jiang makes note that due to a weak analysis of Alayavijnan, a problematic nature stems out from performing comparative studies of the two topics. Alayavijnana is defined as base consciousness and is fundamental to Yogacara Buddhism, it may be thought of as the subliminal reserve within one’s mind that stores a different aspects of a person from their experiences, memories,…
