My Favorite Character In Shakespeare's Hamlet

The play of Hamlet that I watched was performed BLC Theatre. My favorite character within the context of the play had to be Horatio. Horatio being a close friend of Hamlet had a sense of loyalty to the young prince. Every time he was on stage he seemed to have a certain presence that could not be overstated. The young man who played him I believe did an outstanding job of letting the audience truly understand who Horatio really was. My least favorite character had to be Claudius. The reason for this is nothing more than his motives throughout the play. He is a man who wants nothing more than power and will truly stop at nothing to get it. During the play I believe the rising action takes place during the very first scene when the late king Hamlet’s ghost interacts with the guards. It made me as a spectator feel as if there was more here than just meets the eye, and also exited me for the future events of the play. The falling action of the play had to be when Hamlet killed Polonius by mistake. The atmosphere seemed to change drastically from there on out. The world of the play seemed to have an old world feel to it. The setting of the play was meant to take place in Denmark and the time period was set in the middle ages around the 15th century. Realism is defined as “An attempt to make art and literature resemble life.” There is much realism in this play that took place on stage. The most important supporting character in this play is Claudius, although he is the antagonist who Hamlet seeks vengeance upon his character was not as developed as I would have liked to see. I don’t believe that any of the characters in the play of Hamlet fall into any kind of stereotype. The characters are all unique in their own ways no matter the size of the part, I believe all the actors and actresses did a great justice to their characters. There is no doubt in my mind that I enjoyed this play by BLC. It made me want to see it in person as well. Although I did criticize some of the cast, overall I thought they all did an outstanding job. I think plays like this are a great reminder to all spectators just how tough Theatre really is. However, it also makes you appreciate the time and efforts that the actors put into the process in order to make it the best show
