Growing up, most girls are taught fairy tales and want the fairy tale love. So, they go looking for it regardless logically knowing that there is no such thing as fairy tale love. This story can be inferred to tell about a rebellious girl learning the consequences of her risky behavior. It is a great cause and effect example of a story. Connie gets put down at home and seeks attention elsewhere. Her mom implies that Connie is not as pretty as she thinks, this in turn, makes Connie look other places to confirm that she is a pretty girl. Connie going to the restaurant to get the conformation of her beauty leads to the risky behavior. When Connie does get the conformation, it usually is in form of going away from her friends and alone with a guy. Assuming that nothing happens between the two, Arnold could be the creation of her mind of what could happen if she is not so lucky with a chivalrous kind of guy. Instead of Arnold actually appearing to her house, he is actually a figure of her imagination.
