Growing up as a mixed kid who can “pass” for being white has given me a unique view point, where I am able to see both sides of being privilege and not within the matter of seconds. An example is how I am treated compared to my father who is one hundred percent Filipino. My dad’s physical appearance is different than mine due to the fact that his skin is much darker than mine. And I have noticed that people will speak and treat me differently than they would my dad because with my paler complexion I appear “friendlier”. There have been multiple studies and ever personal testaments of people talking about these types of scenarios that have happened to them. And it is not like the person doing it is a bad person, I personally feel it is due to subconscious brain washing that the news puts out, especially now a days with the whole terrorism. Overall, I agree one hundred percent with the author of, What my Bike Has Taught Me About White Privilege. From his view and definition on how privilege works and his explanation on how it happens and how people may not even notice they have privilege in the first
