In the article “What is Wrong with Prostitution, Pateman argues that prostitution is a form of patriarchy and she attempts to support her argument by referring to the history of how women were treated as housewives. Essentially, she claims that prostitution is merely a way for men to temporarily claim ownership against women. In my opinion, I would disagree with this claim since prostitutes have the autonomy to choose who their clients will be and have the right to refuse any form of sexual activity that may not fall under their likings. Pateman also claims that prostitution is not similar to other forms of jobs.
