Even though Donnie is known for his slow and rhythmic songs, he manages to get people engaged to his message for which he tries to convey in his songs. Music was popular to people till he came about in the late 90s and early 2000s. His inspirations are Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Al Sharpton, and so many more. Although Donnie didn’t release but one album, all the songs were meaningful with a purpose. The song that really caught my attention and really got me to connect with him was his song “Welcome to The Colored Section” on his first album he released in 2004 called “The Colored Section”. In this song, Donnie really captures the emotions from his audience and gets them to try and connect with him through his strong meaningful lyrics he expresses in his song. The lyrics he expresses talks mainly about black history to reflect todays racism, Donnie paints a vivid, solid, and bold picture in their head of what it was like and the hardships people face of being black back then. It is devastating to learn and know about what black people have done for this country because most of history comes from black people. Nothing has really changed in the many years of racism. Racism has been the cause of numerous amounts of catastrophes, deaths, and even political uses. It’s been in our atmosphere for centuries and it’s not getting any better once the years pass and progress. People would think it would go away, but it won’t go away if people poison this earth.
