A second instance where dialogue was brilliantly portrayed was on page 392, where the paragraph began with “Victor knew… Thomas would remain the crazy storyteller who talked to dogs and cars.” What was poignant here was the untouched friendship Victor and Thomas left years ago. Thomas’ desire to go and bury half of his Father’s ashes shows his care and concern for his Father and his knowledge of what is best for his friend. I chose the quote from when the narrator had finally met up with Sonny, “I was remembering, and it made it hard to catch my breath, that I had been there when he was born; and I had heard the first words he had ever spoken.” f I’ll begin with the narrator and what I understood from his thought. to the narrator he was well exactly describing what he’d witness in his brother’s childhood. He’s making it know that he was there for Sonny as a child and had seen him grow up. Very much in a similar way as a parent does with their own child.…

We think story-telling played a role in character development for Victor. In the short story, more light is shown on Victor and Thomas’s relationship when they were younger through flashbacks. With these flashbacks we understand why the characters are the way they are now in the present. We see less anger and hostility from Victor as his older self towards Thomas in the short story. We can also infer that maybe this is a growing respect for Thomas from Victor, due to Thomas’s way of being able to remain positive despite his struggles.…

In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley talks about a monster, who transforms from an innocent individual to an evil person at the end. The entire story revolves around the monster and his creator, who abandons the monster at the time of monster’s creation. Furthermore, the society rejects the monster and this rejection changes the harmless being to a harmful creature. Thus, Shelly comments on the idea of human nature being learned and not innate through her tale of the monster. I strongly believe Mary Shelley’s portrayal of the monster in the story depicts human transformation based on their experience in the society.…
