The book discussed two types of fear a fear called “motivating fear” and “manipulating fear” one fear may be a bit better than the other depending upon your perspective. Motivating fear helps people when things are hard. When things are not going right or that person is in a dangerous situation and they need to act in order to save their lives, that is when motivating fear would jump into action. Manipulating fear is when something happens to us and it prevents us from moving forward. I loved the example the author made about when he and his wife were in san franscisco and there was a terrible earthquake. In the very beginning of the book the author introduces us to a very scary situation that fear would spare anyone. The author awoke in the middle of an earthquake but the people who built the hotel they were staying in had accounted for the hurricane and built the building on rollers so that the building would sway with the earth. That passage spoke volumes to me because often time fear forbids us from moving with the circumstances that surround us and we end up not growing or
