Everyone has or had troubles trying to find themselves in life. Making a name for yourself and becoming a good soul is one of the hardest things to do. There’s pressure, anxiety, and way too much judgement. My favorite band, The Goo Goo Dolls, put so much feeling and meaning in their songs. They sing Iris, my favorite song, which talks about being true to yourself and not taking life for granted.…

Not only does it send a message but by Tim McGraw’s emotional investment really makes people latch onto this song. In the video he wanted it to show the universality of the message of humble and kind that the song made you feel by listening to it. According to the site Wide Open Country “The message of the song doesn’t drown you with schmaltz, because it is so simple and relatable. If there’s any excess going on here, it’s the son’s bombastic climax, but that kind of production suits this type of anthem song and McGraw’s…

The video itself does not have more meaning than a scrapbook for the project, but the song I chose relates to transcendentalism. It is called “I Like Birds” by Eels. Throughout the song they talk about how they like birds, similarly to how transcendentalists (Thoreau with the loons) admired nature and aspired to be near it. Another stanza,”I don 't care for walkin ' downtown--Crazy auto-car gonna mow me down--Look at all the people like cows in a herd-- Well, I like--Birds,” talks of resistance to conformity and anti-societal thoughts, both of which were found in…

Plot summary The story centers on Gabriel Conroy on the night of the Morkan sisters' annual dance and dinner in the first week of January 1904, perhaps the Feast of the Epiphany (January 6). Typical of the stories in Dubliners, "The Dead" develops toward a moment of painful self-awareness; Joyce described this as an epiphany (a moment of truth). The narrative generally concentrates on Gabriel's insecurities, his uneasiness, and the defensive way he deals with his discomfort. The story culminates at the point when Gabriel discovers that, through years of marriage, there was much he never knew of his wife's past.…

Music Composer for To Kill a Mockingbird • “Ultralight Beam” by Kanye West is the first song on this soundtrack. The second verse by Kelly Price talks about how “You persecute the weak / Because it makes you feel so strong,” similar to when Atticus talks about how Mayella is putting this man on trial so she doesn’t have to deal with the fact she kissed a black man. They both possess the mood of being somber. The song makes you feel as if there are problems that have been corrected and you finally feel free. The book, however, highlights the racial divide between whites and blacks.…

Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…

The Journey of a Changed Heart Enlightenment generally comes in increments and rarely with the flash of the proverbial light bulb switching on. Scripture portrays truth as coming “line upon line, here a little, there a little” (The Holy Bible). Within Antonio Machado’s poem “Last Night As I Was Sleeping,” the reader travels through one person’s journey of religious awakening through the use of metaphor, diction, and symbolism. The poem describes baptism, conversion from wickedness to righteousness, recognition of the Spirit and finally understanding God’s love.…

Even though it’s not a song where one could dance to, Bruno Mars still relates to the audience. Just like from his previous song, “Grenade,” he still kept that vulnerable side of him. Even in this new album, he was able to include a heartache moment. Of course sadness is not the main theme of 24K Magic, however, he included a sympathetic song to an album that’s full of fun and liveliness to demonstrate how life is not just about having a good time, but it also has it’s ups and downs. These heartfelt moments were executed very well because not only Bruno was able to show his best side, but also his worst.…
