This book takes place in the Northside of Indianapolis, Indiana in the present day. Most of the story occurs in either Aza’s house, Davis’s …show more content…
He influences a lot of discussions Aza makes. This is because he always thinks about other people and he is also quite a responsible teenager. In the story Davis does many things that prove how thoughtful he is. One of which is, “You don’t know that the spiral painting is in that box on your dining room table, with a Post-it note stuck to the back of the frame: Stole this from a lizard for you”(pg 285). Davis stole this for Aza because he knew she liked it.Davis was fully aware that Aza admired this painting, and he knew that she would remember he did this for her. Davis is also very responsible, I mean he kind of has to be. Green states, “I guess I realized I had to be a big brother, you know? That’s my full time occupation now. That’s who I am”(pg 283). This is a good example of how Davis is taking on the responsibility of Noah(his little brother). He also shows responsibility in the way he reacts to many things. He reacts very maturely to his father’s death. He reported his father dead even though that means that he will lose his house. Davis really does influence Aza’s decisions, he is always in the back of her
