Having that said, men like Mr. Wright used the fact that they make the money in the family to always get his way. In the poem, a birdcage is mentioned. The cage is a symbol for their marriage. Since Mr. Wright called all the shots in the relationship, Mrs. Wright felt locked up. There are many cases like Mrs. Wrights, women feel obligated to do certain things in a relationship. The study was held to answer one main question, “What percent of women actually seek help in IPV (Intimate Partner Violence)?” This experiment was held in Spain and rallied up a total of 1402 women. The results of reporting the abuse increased by 32.8% in 2004. As you can see many women have been held in such situations where they have felt to have no freedom. Although, yes men are physically capable of more than woman, that does not yet leave us out of options. When it comes to being in an abusive relationship men are thought to have total power. Yet their small undeveloped mind has yet to realize, us women don’t exactly like to put up with shitty relationships. We take the extra mile to get exactly what we need and desire. Women are social and caring beings, when it is taken from us, it can destroy us. Men of this unworthy nature, often believe that if they take everything of value to us, they can maintain their power. Unfortunately, in many cases this is so. This is more so evident when an individual in uneducated, unknowing how to fend for themselves.
