This is defined as all employees in a company participate in working toward common goals. Toyota encourages involvement of all employees in the company. The principle of Respect for People is put into practice i.e. everyone is empowered and treated well. Example is stated “A door is opened for every worker for the same amount of time, regardless of position, background or field” (Stewart, 2004). Toyota established the Creative Idea Suggestion System in 1951, encompasses with the principle of Monozukuri, meaning conscientious manufacturing, allowing ideas confidently, so as to implement successfully in company’s development. Toyota determines a technology in terms of tool that is needed to support the people rather than always be the latest thing because they believe in quality rather than getting everything as new as possible. Toyota also makes great efforts with community-based projects and environmental initiatives, striving to eliminate waste and overproduction. There is continual encouragement for more innovation and new ideas for long-term improvements rather than short-term. In 1974, the number of creative ideas proposal has reached one million. The differences can likely be due to nature of operations, characteristic of firms, service design, products and services by manufacturing and service industries. Moreover, TQM practices in manufacturing and service industries are not significantly different except for quality information and performance measurement, process management, and quality systems practices. Top-management commitment; customer focus and satisfaction; training and education are core factors for manufacturing and service organizations. Hence, by focusing on these principles and practices, an organization can build a quality improvement program that will have a positive influence on business
