Analysis Of Touching Spirt Bear By Cole Matthews

In the book ‘Touching Spirt Bear’ Cole Matthews is a 15-year-old juvenile delinquent from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Cole has fiery red hair, pale blue eyes, and is very tall. He lives with his mother and father. Cole Matthews has been in trouble with the law several times. He has also visited councillors, and various detention centres. Cole was known for having a reputation of a bully. His raging anger always got the best out of him. After committing his most recent crime, beating up Peter Driscal, it was almost certain Cole would serve an adult sentence. But, Garvery (parole officer) shows Cole, Circle Justice. Where they agree on an alternative for jail, banishment. On the island Cole gets mauled by the Spirt Bear, after his unintelligent actions. His consistent negative attitude made him dislike the idea of being humane. Cole is uncaring, dishonest, rude, and undisciplined. In the book there are many times when Cole blamed others for his mistakes. For example, blaming Gavery for sending to the island. Because of Cole’s abrupt behavior, he had done many unintelligent things, such has always picking a fight the Spirt Bear on the island. Cole manipulates people into think he is sorry, for example he was in the Circle meeting and he stated that he is sorry of what he has done to Peter. When he actually didn’t care that he hurt Peter. Cole believes that people are just paid to their job, and that no one cares for him. He states that he has no fears, but it is certain that he fear the Spirt Bear. Because the bear has no fear in Cole, Cole is agitated by the bear. Cole thinks that his best feature is his anger, and intimidating
