Hitchens had lived a life that he choose and it involved some unhealthy habits. He drank quite a bit and many people called him an alcoholic. He was also a very heavy smoker and only quit twice. Once was in 2007 for a brief minute and then when he received his diagnosis that he had cancer.
Cancer is a very horrible disease and it effects all kinds of people from all walks of life. In the essay the author talks about the five stages of grief which was started by Elisabeth Kuble-Ross. It talks about how someone dealing with a life changing event or life altering moment that people will go through these stages. The steps are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance.
