This is a stigma that is a disease that affects someone on a daily in America. The Nimh.Nih.gov is the site that I found all about teen depression and adult depression, now the definition they gave was “Mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities.” Obviously this took over the mind of Boo of how he was handling his life. Side effects of this disease that is a leading cause of death in the US is slow, loss of sleep, guilt, thought of death, self harm, loss of energy in a simple task. All those are similar to Boo when he went crazy and stabbed that person. Now depression is one of the leading causes of deaths in the average person from the young all the way up to the old, it affects how your mind will tell you how to live in life. A quote from the book around chapter 6 I believe said “he had stabbed a person on purpose to protect the kids.” He stabbed that man cause he was mentally unstable and Insane, come on he was locked up in his own house because he was so scary. “ he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch.” A quote that scout had made about Boo and how much of a monster he was. The kids were so scared of him, they would dare each other to touch his house and maybe he would chase them with a shotgun. Like these kids had labeled him as something I’m pretty sure he wasn’t. That people assumed who Boo Radley was after he stabbed his own father and that stranger to protect the kids.
