Thomas Hutchinson, author of the Speech of the Governor to the Two Houses, was born on September 9th, 1711 in Boston, Massachusetts. Hutchinson, throughout his life, was a royal official, historian, and a loyalist. He grew up in a wealthy family who had a strong social status. Instead of doing normal childhood activities, Hutchinson enjoyed reading about the history of England and New England. In fact, when he was just twelve years old, he attended Harvard and was ranked number three in his class.
