Although many of our iconic figures and brightest stars have turned to drugs as an escape from reality, Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson showcase the dangers which accompany the use of illegal drug; in both of these cases ending in tragedy. Our society’s standards and values were once a lot higher. However, we have succumb to the extreme measures advertising is now resorting to. Like smoke filling a room, we have not noticed the shift towards desensitisation until one ad pushes too high. May I just remind you all that marijuana to this day, has not been legalized for personal use. Now why else would they do this unless it is for our own safety. The legalization of marijuana is the bullet to the gun that could one day take your child’s life. Are you prepared to supply that ammunition to our society like the disgraceful creators of this ad? Are you willing to provide society with that kind of ammunition, only for them to turn on themselves and others? It is appalling how advertisements like this make us as a society, question our morals, beliefs and values. We value the strict drug laws. The purpose of these laws is to protect us as a community from the inappropriate use of illegal substances; specifically, marijuana. Whilst we sit back and watch the TV screen, our ethics are being corrupted by these inappropriate and discriminatory advertisements.
This is a completely inappropriate and disrespectful trivialization of ones’ religious beliefs. This advertisement has the ability to have such a negative impact on the people of our society. And I leave you to wonder why would you want to legalize marijuana? To avoid all of these horrible outcomes, I ask of you to ban this demoralizing
