Andrew Brown, a MLB player once said, ”The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.” Technology can be defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. To add on, the story “There Will Come Soft Rains,” by Ray Bradbury shows the aftermath of an atomic bomb. Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 and died on June 5, 2012. In his lifetime he published over 30 books. In my opinion, the story “There Will Come Soft Rains” shows how electronics is harmful to society for many reasons. In the story, “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury shows how electronics has harmed people. For example in paragraph 43 it states, “A falling tree bough crashed through the kitchen window. Cleaning solvent, bottled, shattered over the stove. The room was ablaze in an instant!.” This piece of evidence means, as the tree fell and broke into the house the stove was still on, and the tree ended up catching on fire which soon lead to the house on fire. Therefore, this example shows how high tech has damaging the world as the fire from the stove made the tree catch on fire which will soon lead to the destruction of the house. Additionally another example is in section 5 when it says, “But no doors slammed, no carpets took the soft tread of rubber heels. It was raining …show more content…
“There Will Come Soft Rains” show many examples of how technology has hurt society, for instance, the story talks about how no one is around when it’s time to go to school or work. It was talking about how everyone within the area has been destroyed by the atomic bomb that got launched. Which in order to create the bomb to destroy the people machinery would have had to get better over time.In the near future technology can either improve or harm people, in which the question is what path it will

Technology has shaped the world in many ways. “The book’s that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame”. This quote by Oscar Wilde encapsulates the idea that texts often highlight issues or ideas prominent in our current society, regardless of the time, place or context of the text. Texts address important issues within our society and facilitate deeper thought and reflection about these ideas. In the novel Fahrenheit 451, set in the distant future, ideas relevant to us in the present world are conveyed by author Ray Bradbury. Technology itself, however, is not to blame for their termination. The life the family spent together was to be as normal as they were able to make it, without technology’s total influence over them. Mere seconds before their passing, their silhouettes were marked on the wall of what they were doing. There was “a man mowing the lawn” (Bradbury 25), two children playing ball together, and “a woman bent to pick flowers” (Bradbury 25). Technology was in a large part of their lives, but it did not overrun or consume their way of living.…
