Conflicts In The Work Of Maxine Hong Kingston And Alice Walker Recently I came across two readings that were strong-minded on conflicts that heavily affected the main characters path. These two readings I came across were " No Name Woman" By Maxine Hong Kingston and " Beauty: When The Other Dancer Is The Self" By Alice Walker. In " No Name Woman" By Maxine Hong Kingston the conflicts the main character faces is that when the Aunt of the writer broke a number of taboos in her Chinese Culture and which was the result of lack of female power and which ultimately led to being forgotten by her own family. In " Beauty: When The Other Dancer Is The Self" By Alice Walker the conflicts the main character faces is that when she was in her childhood she was in an incident that left her blind in one eye and left a physical and mental scar which led to low self esteem and led to Society basically looking down at her. The conflicts that the main character faces is that when the Aunt of the writer broke a number of taboos in her Chinese Culture and which was the result of lack of female power and which ultimately led to being forgotten by her own family. The sad thing is that till this day the conflicts that occur in " Beauty: When The Other Dancer Is The Self" By Alice Walker are still very real and there are a lot of similarities and differences between the conflicts in the story and the conflicts that occur in current day life.
