First reading/writing/literary experiences One of the first books I remember reading is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. I remember reading this book with my mom often, and was so intrigued by Eric Carle’s use of his tissue paper art to illustrate the book. After we read this book I wanted to see more of this artist’s work so we bought many of his books. The second most read book that he wrote that I remember reading was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? My mom would constantly bring home books by him and we would read them while commenting on the art in the books. The colors he used to depicted animals and other objects really left an impression on me to a point at which my mom got tissue paper for me so I experiment with …show more content…
The last book I read for pleasure was the Maze Runner series and I really liked it. I found the creativeness of the book very interesting and adventurous. Dystopian novels are my favorite type as the Hunger Games series is one of my all time favorite books. My favorite author is probably Suzanne Collins because of her the Hunger Games. I also really like realistic books such as The Same Kind of Different As me that teach a valuable lesson. Often times I'll usually read articles online about various things including different computer or wrestling related topics. We used to get this game informer magazine that had a lot of information about current and future games. I really enjoyed reading this magazine because it not only explained the game but it also gave the reader an insight to the release date, platforms it would be available on, and the new technologies that were incorporated into the game. I don't write a lot for pleasure but when I do it's usually more personal related things for a stress reliever. I used to keep a journal and every once in awhile I would write in it and explain how I am feeling about current situations. This has a good purpose because it really helped to relieve some stress and put some petty situations into perspective. I'm not usually a creative story writer. In my house we have an insane amount of books including historical books, math textbooks, fantasy novels, …show more content…
The first one I remember well was a book series called My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett. I remember this book left a big impression on me and I really enjoyed reading it. It was an adventure book about a kid with a dragon. One of the main components I remember was him packing his bag with different gadgets that he was going to use on his trip to see his dragon. In one of the preceding years I read the BFG by Roald Dahl and liked it a lot so I started to look for books by Roald Dahl. I remember reading so many books by him including Fantastic Mr. Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Matilda. In grade school we read a number of books for literature classes throughout the years. In junior high my all time favorite book that I read was easily the first book to the Hunger Games series. We read it for a literature reading group and I remember at first I was dreading reading it because it looked like such a long book and we didn't have that much time to read it. After I finished the book I ended up liking it so much that I read the rest of the series on my own. One of the last books that I remember reading in grade school was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. We read this book for a literature log my eighth grade year and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters in the book were very well put together and the relationships in the gangs seemed very real. This book left an

Unlike the literature I am required to read during the school year, the books that I read for pleasure are more focused on issues that can relate to one's actual life. The books I read for pleasure are more of a release. For example, I read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel to get a better view on the idea of intangible belief and dry factuality. I enjoyed "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury because it provided a new perspective on the idea of censorship. I also read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Of Mice and Men" in order to receive valuable insight on the idea of loss of innocence.…

The task not only getting to the egg in time, but, winning the race, developing into the womb of our mothers, and, consequently, getting ready change the world as we know it. Moreover, changing the world before I leave it has always been my aspiration. All the books I found were intriguing, some were a bit odd, but once I started reading, it was hard for me to put any of the books down. My earliest memory of literacy is sitting around my daycare provider during story time, while she read us books. After story time we would be allowed to get our own books from the library. Although I could not read at the time, I still enjoyed looking at the pictures and making up my own story to go with it. When it came time to learn how to read, I was sort of impatient. I can remember having problems with phonics because I did not want to take my time to sound out words; I wanted to just be able to recognize the word immediately.…

Mars Borges Literacy narrative My first comic I fell in love with was Baby Mouse— a sassy elementary schooler going through the ups and downs of early public education. She was funny, the stories were fun, but more importantly, I loved the look of the books. Every comic had a limited color palette of black, white, and pink, which I found to be the coolest thing. The speech bubbles were distinguished, the text had a unique font, the art was cute— sometimes I didn’t even need to read it, just looking through the book was so satisfying. Baby Mouse was the only comic I owned as a child, having a good 5 to 10 of those books.…
