In the fictional short story entitled “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers, Lemon Brown, one of the main characters, a forgotten, homeless, and lonely musician shares his past with Greg Ridley and teaches him to be thankful for all that he has. First of all, Lemon Brown tells Greg about his son Jesse and says, “I didn’t have nothing to give…that told him who I was and what he come from… [he] got killed in the war…Broke my heart, it truly did.” (page 13-14) This shows that although Lemon Brown barely met Greg, he is willing to open up and share his past sorrowful experiences.
