I also disagree with the way he attempted to force the states to rescind the right to turn down Federal decisions that were not done with the interests of the states in mind. Jackson encouraged a strong federal government. When the Nullification Crisis occurred, he was known to actively threaten those who would go in opposition to the federal government’s decision, despite the fact that they had the right to. His use of the spoils system effectively polluted the government. Rather than replace seats with those that could actually help American relations, he removed government officials from office and replaced them with corrupt friends and acquaintances to gain political power and favors for himself.
