Soraya made a bad decision to run away with an Afghan man and the general did his fatherly duties and just in the nick of time too. If he had not brought back Soraya, she would have never known of her mother’s ailment, she “had had a stroke, the right side of her face was paralyzed”(Hosseini 164). With all his flaws, the general’s a good man who needs to work on a few things, but is still capable of parenting her daughter correctly.

“dressed in his shiny old gray suit, wooden cane across his lap”- Hosseini 193
Age can not deter this general from dressing up all fancy. He is always on point with the latest styles and fashions of men his age. It is good to see that some old men have fun with what they wear and are still able to keep it
