Violations exist in every part of the world. There are so many ways people inflict abuse such as race, gender discrimination, teasing, criticizing etc. But everyone has the right to life, liberty, and freedom of speech. Human rights are what makes us human. In the story of “Saboteur,” Mr. Chiu was wrongly imprisoned. In the last day of honeymoon when Mr. Chiu and his wife were having lunch and talking then, a police officer treats them badly and arrests him without any reason. In this point, I think if he and his wife do something bad related to pornography that display a sexual organs or activity that destroys the view of public place then the police can take an action to them. As a human being, I can feel bad for him because his rights are being violated, talking with the wife and eating does not disturb the public peace. I would say the police officers interrupting the public peace when they treated him unfairly and clamped handcuffs around his wrist and he cried, “You can’t do this to me, this is utterly unreasonable” (Jin 349). In this point he is trying to explain that this is not fair, the policemen doing injustice to him. He didn’t do anything wrong, he just complains of his right, instead the police officers against the law. There are many examples of the power of the police such as they arrest him for a crime that he didn’t commit. And he has to face the Chief of the Investigation Bureau. The Bureau mentioned they can easily prove his guilty with the statements by eyewitnesses. They provide him a letter to confess a crime which he wasn’t involved in. In fact, they indicated him that they won’t punish him if he agrees that he promised he won’t disrupt the public peace and the promise depends on his release and this clearly show the government power. Mr. Chiu is in a critical situation that concentrates on destroying society. He manages to show through his eyes that society unpleasantly is more like the police officers than Mr. Chiu. However, the cultural revolution is a period when the story of Ha Jin placed and it described here when the chief mentioned that he is a communist party member which is placed into political status. Because when they realized that he is a political party member that’s why they decided to put him in a trouble. As I mentioned on the top they offered him to sign in a letter to carry his own self-criticism even though he doesn’t know that they already filed a suit against him. He was new in the Muji town, the people in the city don’t have that much idea about him because he lived and worked in Harbin which is more than three hundred miles away from the Muji town and this was his
