The United States of America is a very large country with many different cultures depending on what state one are in and where in that state they are. There also laws that can differ from state to state, some being reasonable and others that make one wonder what happened to cause that law to be passed. With so many differences it is understandable to get things that the nation as a whole disagree on, it be the legalization of recreational marijuana or, in this case, the Stand Your Ground law. The Stand Your Ground law details that if one is in a situation in which they feel threatened they have the right to use deadly force even if in public. States like Montana, that practices the Stand Your Ground law, have a higher amount of firearm related deaths than a state that does not have the law, such as New York. However, Florida ranks higher than both of those states in the amounts of deaths caused by firearms in 2014. Florida is an in between of the two states, not geographically but in terms of its guns and cultural. New York is generally a more liberal state that does not practice Stand Your Ground or open carry, while the more conservative Montana allows both. Florida does not seem to be either liberal or conservative but floating somewhere in the middle, which different leanings by counties. Florida also allows the Stand Your Ground law but not an open carry, which is why it can show that the Stand Your Ground law does lead to more gun violence.
It can be said that states Stand Your Ground law have more gun violence due to the fact that their citizens are allowed to use deadly force if they see fit. In the CDC report almost every state that practices Stand Your Ground has a higher level of deaths due to firearms. Now while the actual situation of the death is not stated, if it was an accident, homicide, or a suicide, it is known that some of these states have a higher suicide rate than other, like
