A college student who thinks he has no writing utensils is shocked to find 2 single black ballpoint pens at the bottom of his bag. Thinking that the pens are a gift from God and nothing of coincidence he holds the pens close to his heart. As class goes on a women sitting next to him realizes that she does not have anything to write with so she asks the young man if he has something that can be borrowed and after thinking he reluctantly hands the second of his pens over, and tells the lady to keep track of it and return it at the end of class. As the day went on the young man loaned his pen out to classmates who had forgotten theirs and at the end of every class, the pen would make its way back to the owner who hoarded it as if it were the only thing to his name. Every time the young man would get the pen back he’d be a little annoyed at the fact that the ink had dwindled and forgot that through the gift of the pen conversations were held and friends were made. Just as Tame said “the kingdom of God is shown all around; in nature, at home, all around (Tame, 2005) the ballpoint pen shows that in the kingdom of God there are little gifts that spread into larger ones such as the friendships made because of the having of the pen. The kingdom of God is a gift to be apart of, and sharing the kingdom of God is an even bigger gift. The kingdom of God is everlasting and will make its way back followers if the person losens their grips and chooses to let God’s gifts do the work they are designed to
