How does one react when a person they once loved and knew inside and out is now a completely different person? Ever since they were little kids, Simon’s personality and physical traits have been known by Clary. In The Mortal Instruments City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare, Simon is bitten by a vampire, and some of his old, quirky attributes change. Clary and Simon’s relationship starts to change because he is no longer the boy he used to be. This novel allows me to evaluate the tragedy of the stolen Soul-Sword, the significance of Simon’s coffin, and the consequences of the Drevak demon. After reading part of this novel, I have found that the Soul-Sword is the main reason why a huge tragedy took place. The Soul-Sword is a tool used to make sure Shadowhunter’s are telling the truth. Jonathan never uses his real name and goes by his nickname of Jace. While sitting in his jail cell, a series of screams are heard by Jace. The screams are as high-pitched and loud as a baby throwing a temper tantrum☺ (simile). Jace’s father, Valentine, walks in front of his cell and talks to him about what just happened, but Valentine quickly flees because he hears other footsteps approaching.
