What Is A Grandmother Love Essay

Maya Angelou wrote a poem on a grandmother love and it is important because it shows the importance that a grandmother have towards children. Our Grandmothers shows this amazing emotion. “ No angel stretched protecting wings above the heads of her children, fluttering and urging the winds of reason into the confusions of their lives. The sprouted like young weeds, but she could not shield their growth from the grinding blades of ignorance, nor shape them into symbolic topiaries. She sent them away, underground, overland, in coaches and shoeless” (Our grandmother). This is a prime example for that love a strong woman who keeps the kids in jesus hands. Growing up I had a complicated relationship with all three. Things is my mom passed away before I was one and I did not have a relationship with my dad. I was really forced to live with my grandmother. After the passing of my mom my grandparents separated and it tore the family up a little. Even though me and my grandmother did not get along in most cases she gave me the encouragement to try to become better than everyone. She doubted me. She said I would not amount to shit in my life and just because of that it pushed me to become better than her. My brother is my rock. Just like Bailey to Maya. I carried my brother on my back even though he’s three years older than me. We had a rough childhood since we both have the same mom with different dads we grew up together struggling. Our grandmother was abusive and there was nowhere to escape. We stuck together. I had his back and he has mines. This let me cope with the difference in motherly love and the difference between the love a grandmother and brother. I
