Introduction
Drug abuse has always been a big issue in the world of music. I have selected two songs that both discuss about this controversial issue. The first song that I chose for this topic is “Going through Changes” by Eminem on his album Recovery which was released in the year 2010. Amazing by Aerosmith which was released in 1993 of their album Get a Grip also deals with the same issue. In the song “Going through Changes” Eminem in his lyrics discusses his addiction with pill and how it became almost fatal. In “Amazing” Steven Tyler talks about living with drug abuse after Aerosmith’s initial split. “You can’t stop with these pills and you’ve fallen off with your skill” in “Going through Changes” is talking about how this addiction affected

"Wake up in the hospital, full of tubes, but somehow I 'm pulling through.” This line explains the severity of the addiction as he tells how he was close to dying in a hospital. This is not a metaphor as he is describing something he experienced as a result of his drug abuse. The addiction he had been suffering from lead to an overdose that nearly took his life. It speaks to the people in the audience that have been in near death situations or have had someone they knew in that situation. As they can relate to Eminem and this horrific ordeal he had been …show more content…
In the line “I’m debating on leaving this world this evening” sets the tone of the song of an emotional and depressing feel. The emotion this song is meant to being out is sadness as there really is no other that is being emphasized throughout the course of this song. Throughout the song you can hear someone singing “I’m going through changes” in ghostly like voice as if in the back of Eminem’s mind there is always a reminder of what he went through. The song sets a tempo of a slower and somber mood, giving off a feeling of time to

A lot of artist use pathos, logos, and ethos in their music everyday to explain a argument. The “Other Side” by Macklemore has a lot of logos in his lyrics as he described how his friend Pimp C was killed by over dose of the purple drank a.k.a lean when he says, “ thinking he might of sipped just a little bit too much of the cough syrup.” He also argues that this drink is very addictive and is influencing our youth. Lean is a addictive cough syrup(promethazine) mixed with sprite that most rappers drink. He uses pathos with the beat, because it gives you a feeling that something bad happened.…

The song “Car Radio” by the alternative rock group Twenty One Pilots is a song that should be broadcasted for its uplifting message. The band uses metaphors in the song to bring awareness to suicide, telling the audience that there are other alternatives for dealing with their minds. The car radio is the main metaphor used in this song. The song title is Car Radio and this car radio is mentioned often. The radio seems to be the only thing keeping the main singer, Tyler, sane it is the only thing protecting him from his thoughts and actions.…

The Crow & The Butterfly A musician’s inspiration for a song can come from anywhere, even their own subconscious, and that proves true in the case of my favorite song “The Crow & The Butterfly” by Shinedown. The singer of the band and the writer of the song, Brent Smith, has said his inspiration came from a dream he had about a mother dealing with the death of a child. The song to me represents loss in any sense that is relevant to the listener. The emotion you feel while listening to the lyrics can speak to anyone in different aspects of their life.…

I am a pretty active person in my everyday life and I do walk on my treadmill every morning, but I really want to get my heart rate up and burn some calories. I do notice that I am very tired in the mornings and I have read a number of research articles that show performing an activity like jogging or running first thing in the morning helps with energy and ramps up your metabolism. Since I am so tired in the morning I do drink coffee and drinking more coffee lead to more sugar in my diet, which is something that I am really…

Life is about not giving up. The message of the “The Climb” is to show people to not worry about what you have accomplished. It's about the things that made them get there and the things they learned from it. “There is always gonna be another mountain I wanna make move” (Miley Cyrus). This shows that it's not about waiting for something to happen and not how long it can take them to get there.…
