The Siren “ 'I never wanted to be away from Her for too long, though. She was the only mother I had, now” (pg. 48). I read The Siren by Kiera Cass in the romance genre. Kiera Cass graduated from Radford University. She grew up in South Carolina. And now, has a family of four. She loves office supplies, boybands, and desserts. She hates flying, salads and when people don’t use turn signals. Cass mainly writes romance novels and is a number one New York Times Best-Seller.

First of all, The Siren is about a girl, nineteen-years-old, who exclaims, “I’m not ready! I want to live! Nineteen years was not enough.” (pg. 17). While she and her family are on a cruise, the Sirens sing, and her ship starts to sink. While she is in the

Kahen is a quiet girl who doesn’t talk very much and hates that she is forced to do things she really doesn’t want to do. She is very realistic and would rather stay inside and read her book than go out and party at a club. “Now I know for sure: the club scene is not for me.” (pg. 66). Padma is another main character. She becomes a siren later on in the sisterhood. Before she as a siren she lived in Japan and was abused by her father who also abused her mother. Padma’s father tried to drown her in the ocean, but the ocean saved her and had her become a siren. My last and final main character is Akinli. He falls in love with Kahlen. He has brown shaggy hair and a shadow across his face. He was a college student then dropped out. Both his parents died in a car accident and now he lives with his cousin and his cousin’s …show more content…
The first reason is I loved how each siren sister had a different personality so any kind of person could relate to one character or another. The second reason why I love this book so much is because of the romance. I feel like romance can be done in a very wrong way and have it be cheesy and un-enjoyable. However, I felt this book did a very good job in the romance department. My third and final reason is while you were reading the book it was very easy to visualize the setting and the storyline. I never got confused with what was happening at the specific moment in the book. I enjoyed this book extremely, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good

Why I preferred the book well to start with it gives lots of details instead of the movie. It does actually mean a lot if I like a book because I tend to be very picky about what I read. the book plot, story, theme, everything was so well done and thought out that once you start reading it, it is hard to put it down and stop reading. Reason why it is so hard to stop reading it well every chapter pretty much end with a cliffhanger. Great books like this one are very hard to come by.…

In many sports articles, sportswriters typically portray athletes as flawless individuals, who live the life many of us dream to achieve. Especially the talented adolescents, with their high paying salaries, magazine cover bodies, and public support, which are stressed by the sportswriters truly portrays that athletes have it all. In addition, these positive qualities written about athletes’ drags the reader into further favoring them, like a child reading about his or her favorite superheros who never fail, the air brushed illustration of athlete’s life keeps his or her fan’s attention, while gaining new ones as well. Although these qualities of an athlete can be eye catching, and adoring for the public, sports writers should expose the other side of the athlete’s life too. Since athletes are already celebrated for their talent, exposing the truth of an athlete’s life would bring in common ground with his or her fans.…

Siren imagery is a “central part of her characterization,” though Settle divides Daisy’s characterizations into three, historically based groups (115). Each section is extensively argued, almost in brutal excess, utilizing example-filled comparisons to classical and modernist authorial depictions from Homer and Hesiod to Keats and T. S. Eliot. Probably the most illuminating evidence is presented in the central…

Kyler Elliott Mrs. Romine English 3 19 October, 2017 Freedom from Greed Throughout the novel Seize the Storm by Michael Cadnum, the characters in the story display many different examples of freedom. In addition, he also shows how the characters change their outlooks on the different freedoms they have and use without being aware of it. Many of the antagonists use the different freedoms and privileges they have to increase the amount of crimes they commit and the efficiency at which they do them as well. In the novel, the characters use their many freedoms and rights throughout to help them escape things that have happened to them previously or to help them do actions more efficiently, all the while the author implies that the characters…

The novel Shatter Me written by Tahereh Mafi is foremost one of the best books that I have ever read in my existence. This amazing novel was really unpredictable as everything happened like a rollercoaster ride. However, it did have some drops throughout the book that I did not find amusing. The tone set is light and humourous, to sway readers into assuming that they are not as bad as they are made out to be. The Siren calls the other two Sirens “maniacs” and the term is not one readers would expect an individual so vicious to use. The Siren also seems to be bored, with an unconcerned attitude. In The Odyssey, Circe tells Odysseus that,”Square in your ship’s path are Sirens, crying beauty to bewitch men coasting by; woe to the innocent who hears that sound! He will not see his lady nor his children in joy” (Homer 660).…

Butterflies and I have always shared a special connection. In a sense, one could say that a butterfly was my spirit animal or a physical manifestation of my personality. When thinking of a butterfly the words graceful, majestic, and free come to mind; yet, no one ever applies these same adjectives to a caterpillar before its transformation. Because let’s face it, what is a butterfly without its wings? In the short story “Day of the Butterfly” by Alice Munro, the narrator Helen befriends Myra Sayla, and outsider among their sixth-grade class.…

I enjoy reading this series because I never have a boring time reading them. The writer's purpose for composing this book is to bring down the rate of children that are bullied. Much the same as in the previous five books, "A," was finally finally revealed, but there is a new one who continually harms the young ladies, physically, inwardly, socially, and rationally. I believe that Sara Shepard is, while telling an amazingly intriguing story, attempting to implement and get the message global to individuals that harassing is not alright.…
