The Scar Boys by Len Vlahos is about Harbinger Robert Francis Jones (Harry) who almost struck by lightning, almost killed his best friends, and was in a kick-butt rock & roll band that almost made it big, but failed. It all started with a college essay that was only supposed to be 250 words to get to know the student (Harry) but ended up being a novel (Good job Len..).
Jones was tied to a tree by some neighborhood buttheads & was standing there, stuck in a tangle of ropes against some giant tree in the middle of a storm. He counted how close it was (You know...one mississippi, two, etc) & realized it was getting closer & closer. Soon the storm was right above his head (literally) & lightning was striking the tree he was tied to. He heard yelling from his mother, so he yelled back, but he wasn’t loud enough to yell over the loud, bright, lightning &

Soon he blacked out before he realized he was being burned alive & roasted like a marshmallow. The next time he wakes up, he is in a hospital, all he sees is white & evidently, doctors & nurses.
After this, he wasn't exactly bullied, he never got mean words spewed at him besides every once & awhile, he was simply just...ignored. No friends, sat alone & everyone either starred or kept their head down. Besides the one day that Johnny spoke up to him, also know as, the most popular boy in school. He didn't answer at first, thinking he was either talking AT him or to someone else, until he said “I'm talking to you”. That's when things changed. Johnny & Harry became best friends, they both needed each other. Johnny is popular which made Harry have friends & Harry wants to keepy Johnny around so he has friends, so he is like a sidekick. Always doing things for him, including being a kick butt guitar player in their band The Scar Boys. The band included Johnny as the singer, Harry as the lead

“Who would Peter Be today ?”. by Estrada , Pg.69 Base on my own experience, I believe one of the reasons why many children accept other children being bullied , and they rarely step in to help the bullied children is the feeling of being isolated and bullied back from the other kids . There are many examples in social life show this for us every day and even in movies . When a group of students bully a kid and one member in a group have a thought that is unfair and want to protect the bullied kid, then all the other members in the group will bully that student, who don’t want to bully the kid anymore, until he can’t take the pressure and comeback. The scare feeling for standing up and being different from the other kids make the children not only stay where who they are but also stand there and watch the kid being bullied.…

Bullying is most certainly not a new concept in our contemporary society, not by any measure. This problem has existed for a number of years, and in a great number of separate forms. However, no matter when it occurs or what form it takes, bullying is an issue that must be stopped. This is the very point that Lee Hirsch, director of The Bully Project, also known as Bully, is trying to make. Through the film, he hints at a number of different ideas that surround bullying and its existence, like the magnitude of the impact that it has, and that people consistently ignore the issue.…

“Maus” by Art Spiegelman is a compelling and masterful story of survival told by Art’s father, Vladek Spiegelman. A Jew that lived in Poland during World War II. Vladek’s accounts are recorded and published in an odd manner. Instead of the traditional biography of a Holocaust survivor, like the Elle Wiesel’s “Night,” “Maus” was made into a comic book. Not only was “Maus” a comic book, but the characters are rendered very uniquely.…

During my school career it was a breeze until I got to middle school. Once I hit the sixth grade the name calling and constant judging from the seventh and eighth graders started. However, what really struck me with disbelief was how my “friends” started to treat me, as if joining in on the banter was “cool” and did it to fit in with the older/cooler kids.…
